Meet the Artist
Tineke has been painting for over thirty years, though in many ways, art has been her lifelong language. Her journey began at the Art Students League in New York City, where she learned the discipline of painting from direct observation. Her deep joy is in the tradition of still life, however her work includes florals, landscapes, Judaica, portraits, and animals. Working in oils, she seeks to capture the world as she sees it—with honesty and care.
Tineke grew up in Dordrecht, Holland, surrounded by the legacy of the Dutch masters. Her path to New York took her through France as a nurse and London as an au pair, and even behind a microphone as a radio singer. She eventually met her husband in an Israeli café, a meeting that led to a new life in America.
For Tineke, creativity is not limited to the easel. Whether she is sewing, reupholstering furniture, drawing with her grandchildren, or baking for her family, Tineke believes in the power of making things by hand. This website is a collection of that work—a celebration of her talent and the decades of unwavering quiet devotion to her art.
